I am about to replace the timing chain and I was wondering is there any tips I need to know and also where is TDC for the cams? Do the cams role easy and if so what to use inorder to keep them in timing from moving?
Thanks

You should be able to remove the balancer and pulleys from the crank. Remove the water pump and timing chain cover asm. turn the engine over with either the balancer or the bolt from the crank and line the marks up. remove the bolts from the cam and reinstall the new set in the same manner.
You might want to visit the auto zone web site and look under repairs for your vehicle. You might get a step by step repair.

There are two timing chains, not one.One drives the left side cam and one drivers the right side cam. This is not a very easy job,a PITA.

I would suggest a manual before you start as pictures of the timing marks are a big help for a successful job.

Thanks for all the help. In the manual it says to use a cam tool that holds the cam in place and prevents it from rolling. Any of you guys ever use one of these and where did you get it from or did you make your own device to prevent the cam from rolling?
Thanks.

Google Ford camshaft holder. Look at pictures and see what you can make.
