2000 Grand Prix Strut Replacementmikepieronek 05-18-2009, 01:02 PM I just replaced the rear struts on my 2000 Grand Prix GT. I used a Monroe Quick-Strut. I took pictures and documented my work. If you're thinking about doing this yourself, my site may help you decide. :runaround: http://www.redhouseon7th.com/redhouse/howto/2009PontiacStrutsReplacement/ Good luck, -Mike tblake 05-18-2009, 05:32 PM Nice Job, Very nice write-up. JonJon68 05-18-2009, 05:37 PM Good stuff! Excellent step by step directions and easy to understand. Nice work. : ) Question, wouldn't this apply to the 1997 Grand Prix as well? If not, what's the difference? richtazz 05-19-2009, 07:05 AM the proceedure for your 97 should be indentical. Suspension wise, all 97-03 Grand Prix's are virtually identical. The only differences are in the OEM strut valving, but physically they are the same. jakegday 05-19-2009, 11:44 AM at the very end of that write up the guys says this: "Before, hitting a bump in the middle of a curve would send the back end skittering sideways" my car does the exact same thing. also, when im driving on a moderatly bumpy highway, my rear end is constantly going up and down like i have hydraulics installed or something. does this mean my struts are bad? how about my shocks? suspension is not my department..... doctorhrdware 05-19-2009, 10:29 PM Yes if your car is hoping up and down your struts are bad and need to be replaced. Newer cars do not use shocks any more. If you are going to replace the struts follow the excellent write up that mikepieronek has written. Car do not have leaf springs any more, so that is why the struts have a coil spring that is incorporated. tblake 05-20-2009, 08:14 PM I Move to bump this write-up to the tips and maintenance subforum! (I think we have a GP front strut replacement there already, but no back strut) Bob, Rich, Lynn, what do you guys think? richtazz 05-21-2009, 12:37 PM i move to bump this write-up to the tips and maintenance subforum!
