my turn signal flasher clicked when there not even on tried everything didn't want to buy a new one because of the price.
did a search in grand am there was the same problem. He said take the switch out and clean it. works perfect.
On 1995-1998 or more take the cover off of the steering column. use a right angled rod thin enough to get in the hole above the key tumbler put it in and the the key and the tumbler will come out now the top cover is off. unscrew the switch and harness at the bottom. on the hazard plug is where the problem is clean it put die-eleric greece back on don't lose the springs or contacts put it back togather. takes about a hour. but plug it the harness and try it if it still does it buy a switch. one hour is cheaper than $500.

I did it on my 2000 Blazer, wasn't too tough. Make sure that you use di-electric grease after cleaning it - but only enought to coat it - not to overuse it. Going on over 2 years with cleaned switch - no problems.
