Stipped Wipers

This past winter while reaching for my ice scraper I bumped the wiper controls and due to the heavy snow ended up stripping the wipers. I think most of the damage was done to the joints sticking up however there looks to be some wear on the wiper arms as well.

I've replaced this assembly once before but I was wondering if anybody had any good ideas on how to repair this slippage. It has lasted a while by just wrapping some medical cloth tap around the joint and the screwing the blade arm back on very tightly however with these spring showers it is loosening again. I'm thinking about just drilling a hole clear through and using a small screw & nut to keep everything together. Or maybe there is some way to cut some notches and use a sort of key to keep the arm moving right.

I know I will probably have to replace the assembly at one point however I'm low on funds and time so I'd like to repair it at least for a while if that is possible.

Any bright ideas?

If it's that far gone, and you have the skill, I think putting a bolt or pin through it is a good idea. But maybe try gluing it on with something like J-B weld first.
