Can I put a 2004/5.3 into my 2000/5.3 Silverado?

I found a good deal on a low mileage 5.3 out of a wrecked 2004 silverado. Will it bolt up or do I need to swap stuff around?

My 2000 Silverado 5.3 currently has 150k on it and the motor is getting louder and louder,, not only when its cold anymore,, I was told its the piston rattle issue...

Please give me some advise on what is needed for the swap...

for starters, you'll have to swap ECM along. how that will mate with your current transmission, who knows.
that's the problem with GM products - they have so many options and combinations, that, basically, every vehicle is ECM-d just for that set up.

If you are gonna swap the new bottom end and use your intake etc, I don't see why not. The blocks are the same I'm pretty sure. trans should bolt and all.

i believe the engines and electronics were a little different each year so i dont know how well your computer would adapt to the 3 year newer engine. also since the front ends were different im not sure if it would even bolt right up.
