I have a question about the step/courtesy lights. I just bought my 2000 silverado lt ext cab, i looked on a couple different websites with bulb sizes and they said that the step/courtesy bulbs can be either 1003,211-2, or 74, then i seen pictures of the bulbs and the look nothing like each other they cant be interchangeable!? anyone care to explain this to me in detail? are they all for the same spot or what? like the light that comes on on your doors when you open it, is that the courtesy or step light? someone explain this shit to me please, i am putting all xenon white lights on my truck and i already have most of the others but do not have this (one/these?), thanks

okay, i wouldnt think this would be so complicated for some of you chevy silverado nuts that know about all this extensive engine and drivetrain shit and cant answer a simple question about light bulbs?

My truck is in storage right now, if i had the manual here i would look at it to answer my simple question, not be posting on this forum to recieve responses from smartasses like you.

Just pull the bulb and take it to Auto Zone or Advanced buy the same number new bulb and it will be cheaper than postage.

when you replace lamps with lamps that draw more/less current than the stated oem lamp you may find problems will arise..
if this all works out let us know. thanks..

Doesn't look like any wattage exceeds the OEM wiring. I can tell you that I would go with any LED I could. Lower wattage, they don't get hot, they're brighter and have a longer life.

yeah, i think they will all work out good, and they will definately look sweet. my truck will be out of storage hopefully middle/end of may. if you all want to see it i have a car domain site for it -
http://www.cardomain.com/id/JVCChevy
and look at my other truck its on my friends page and check out his cars as well, the black truck is what i am currently driving and i am selling it to him , then i will get the new one out - www.cardomain.com/id/1985cadillac (http://www.cardomain.com/id/1985cadillac)

thanks alot you guys, i will let you all know how the lighting works out when i get it in!

note, i also have a brand new set of GM black textured fender flares i am going to be putting on it (got them for $229.00, a steal!) and at the same time removing the body molding. I also have two brand new tow hooks, and a brand new grille emblem for it.

on the grille emblem,,,,use a high quality sealant on the back side to prevent color damage prior to mounting.....road chemicals damaged mine so rather than replacing at a cost of 30.oo I used 250 sand paper on it then spray painted GM red...

lower wattage LED lamps will reduce the load on the alternator electrical system this is good ,,,as long as the computer don't think its a bad lamp ...
