The cd eject function of my player failed and I obtained a exact replacement from an '06 Silverado.
Will I need to have the dealership "turn it on" "recode" "unlock" the replacement once I remove the original unit and plug the "new" one in?

It depends. If your replacement unit has a "code" entered you will need to know the 3 digit code and must enter that code to get the player to work once you install(connect to power) If no code was entered you will be good to go.

Well, got the new unit...plugged it in and ........"LOC".
Got to take it to my GM dealer
$25 plus tax to get it programmed which I'll do next week. I was expecting it to cost more.
