what are the long term effects of doing the led swap on your instrument clusters for 99-02 silverado???? I have noticed for a while that a couple on mine have have flickered on and off for a while, it bugged the hell out of me but have never sat down to fix them untill today...it seems that my leds are burnt out because now there completely dead after messing with them (3 leds to be exact) i want to order new holders too does anyone know the bulb holder id number and type im going to order this bulb as well ....Its the right ones right?? 194's?? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-ULTRA-BLUE-194-158-168-LED-WEDGE-LIGHT-BULB-BULBS_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1171Q7c66Q3 a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a1Q7c293 Q3a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZit em130298543572QQitemZ130298543572QQptZMotorsQ5fCar Q5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories the whole left side of the cluster is now dead and I need help!!! :(

I would try www.superbrightleds.com (http://www.superbrightleds.com) for new LEDs and socket bases...cheaper, wider selection, and better quality.

I did the LED changeout in my old Jimmy's IP and had no burnouts...the only niggling I had was that the high-intensity 2300 mcd blue gear selector LEDs (originally orange) I bought were too bright in the daytime and didn't want to work when the instrument panel lights were dimmed when the headlights were turned on. Too low voltage I think.

I don't foresee any long-term effects except reduction in IP temperatures and current draw. LEDs can be burned out from too much current, but there should be the proper resistors integrated into the base circuitry to limit it. I think that you just got a bad batch or perhaps the quality wasn't up to snuff. I used the 4-LED wedge base (WLED-B4) like you linked to and got good light distribution but it wasn't completely even. They make a 5-LED wide-angle wedge base that I wanted to try but sold the truck beforehand.

Hope this helps!
