Tips on shipping my car cross country VR6punk 03-29-2003, 08:51 AM
I will be relocating for a job and my new car will have to travel from Virginia to Washington state. The car shipping company said it is illegal for me to put a cover on the car while in transit. Does anyone have any tips for me to ensure it stays scratch free?? They said they would reimburse and fix any damages but that doesn't make me feel any better. I was thinking of trying to find some of that white tape that are put on new cars. Any ideas on where to find that or of something else to use? Many thanks! Paul J_Swigz 03-29-2003, 03:18 PM Is it comeing to you on a transport truck? if so then you are fucked. at work we get cars off the transport all the time and they have hydraulic fluid on them, and scratchs and dents. I dont know if you could do this given you circumstance, but why not get a trailer and haul it yourself? Just a suggestion, dont know if it is worth much though. VR6punk 03-29-2003, 03:59 PM hmm.. trailing it wont be an option because of my timeframe, but what could i ask to ensure its going on an "acceptable" truck or not? Thanks! It's kinda like when you put a fragile package into the mail system knowing it has the possibility of getting fucked up. VR6punk 03-29-2003, 09:20 PM ok well i'm definitely not putting 3k miles on a car that only has 1500 on it right now.. i'd probably get more nicks driving it on the highway all that distance anyway.. does anyone know anything about what i was mentioning, regarding the white tape material that new cars are shipped with? VR6punk 03-30-2003, 05:17 AM please disregard this thread.. i thought i was going to get some real help. thanks.
