'05 Bose CD/Cass. Extreme Bass on FM but not XM

I've got the Bose CD/Cassete stereo. I recently cancelled XM and have noticed that the Bass on the FM stations is way too intense. When I had XM I would put Bass and Treble somewhere in the 'dash mark" next to the last one "------*-". Now with FM if I put the Bass back to the center it is still too much. Is there some secret Loudness or Bass Boost that could be activated without my knowledge?

Also does anyone know if there is a way to make each tuning band remember it's own tone settings?

Thanks,
BGC

I have the same setup in my '05 and I asked the same question to a couple of my friends that install XM radios in cars, basically why is the Bass and Treble so much different between FM and XM. The reply I got from both of them is that the quality of the Music from XM is not the greatest and not consistant, you get songs that have alot of Treble and not much Bass or too much Bass and not enough Treble. Every once in a while you find a song that has good quality and the Bass and Treble sounds good. They even mentioned that it could also be the quality of your receiver and it may not be decoding correctly therefore causing this and also causing some songs not to be in stereo. I found that hard to believe until I started paying attention to the music, I did not notice it as much on my neighbors receiver that is hooked up to his home stereo. Maybe the stock receivers are cheap??
I have since then cancelled my XM radio and added an adapter to the radio to use my MP3 player. Here is the link to the post, down in the page I have put links for what I got, but I kept an eye on ebay and got it there. Goodluck!!
