Anyone who's done this wanna give me a "how to"?

Some of the threads on viscous couplers say to disconnect it by removing four bolts.

I believe the shaft is held in with eight bolts.

Where do you disconnect it? At the transfer case or at the axle?

Do you leave the shaft in, just disconnected?

Since I've got issues with the VC, I want to do this now that summer is coming...
