reseting the change oil reading

I have a chevy silverado 2005 and I changed my oil but I do not know how to reset the change oil light reading can any one help please:shakehead

Ignition on (do not start engine) and pump the gas pedal 5 times. This has to be done quickly after turning the ignition on.

At least this is how it is done on my 2000 Yukon.

On my '02 you turn ignition on ( not running ) depress accelerator all the way to floor 3 times within five seconds. If the change oil light flashes five times it is reset.....Also, your owners book will tell you how if you have it.

If that doesnt work and you have the steering wheel buttons, cycle through to the Oil Life screen, then hold down the reset button...the arrow. If i remember right is on the bottom right steering wheel spoke

Thats how I do it, but if you don't have it. Key on engine off, pump gas to the floor and let off 3 times in 5 seconds, like the second responder said. That works on any of em, the ones with redudant steering wheel controls too.
