We have a 2001 Chevy Blazer 4X4 4.3 that has about drained our pockets. We are at wits end with this truck but are stuck with it for another 1.5 years ... But anyhow. I really need some help and guidence
When I am driving down the road, the car 'coughs' looses power like it is going to stall I accelerate it 'coughs' again and goes. I have stalled once. What is going on? I was having // am having issues with the driver front wheel caliper but no fuel problems ... until this week. I say fuel thinking its loosing // feels like lacking fuel so I accelerate and it goes away for a few minutes. but... I don't know alittle lost at this moment.
I don't want to be stranded. But can't afford allot I would trade it in tomorrow but our past haunts us. But If I can fix it.. For now .. Please any insight or reccomendations appricated.
Thank you!

How many miles on it.
When was the last good tuneup mileage?
Good Ac delco plugs?

How is the fuel pressure and filter?
Post back fuel pressure readings and the pressure when it acts up.

Any codes or check engine lights on?

What is the brake caliper doing?

131,500 Miles
Tuneup, up.. either 2 years or 1.5 Can't find receipt..
OEM Plugs They were 2. Each brand ? I know they said OEM when I choose them...
Fuel pressure hmm. how do I measure that? The RPM it below 1 when sputtering, 2.5 when normal running.
Check engine light on for the past 2 years. It says something about fuel. But the yaho that installed our fuel pump admitting cutting that wire to the computer.. so that was over 2 years ago problem just began yesterday / today

Oooh the Brake Caliper well its sticking not letting go .. We replaced Ball joints, Hubs, rotors brakes, rotors brakes calipers .. We are on Cailper #3 its like the fluid goes to it but not back in.. That in it self is a challenge but the whole fuel // sputtering mentioned above it what gets me. I am so puzzled.

I see your signature and Thinking about going investing 100$ and have someone tell me what ails and what to fix then see what I can do myself But. we struggle every week so the more I can do myself the more I can support my family I know everyone is in the same boat...

Thank you so much in advance!

If your caliper cannot release, you might want to look at the brake line that goes to it. The rubber deteriorates and plugs or it just collapses; either way, fluid can't get back out of the caliper and it locks up. Open the bleeder and see if that releases it.

As for the rest, follow MT's advice. He'll get you to the solution...

I would start with checking and clearing the codes and see what code comes back.
AZ and some auto parts stores read codes for free.
Post back codes.
Check fuel filter.
On fuel pressure.
Get a good fuel pressure gauge and start checking fuel pressure
Post back fuel pressure readings.

The only true test on a fuel pump is to check the direct fuel pressure from fuel pump.
A quick test is to block off the return line and see if fuel pressure comes up to 75-85 lbs.
But do not run the pump at full pressure very long.
Also when testing fuel pump and pressure you need to tape a gauge to outside windshield or outside mirror and drive it on the road for 20 -30 minutes
until the pump gets has run a while to check for a pump fading out after hot.

Hard to start cold or hot and fuel pressure testing guide lines.
Check cold start fuel pressure.
Check engine running fuel pressure.
Check engine running on the road fuel pressure.
Then shut it off and watch for fast leak down.
Pinch off at rubber part or block off return line and check full pressure.
If pump has full pressure with return line blocked and low pressure without it blocked most usually the fuel pressure regulator is leaking or not holding pressure.
Later V6 and V8 gm engines should have 60-66 fuel pressure.
Cold start should be 64-65 lbs of pressure.
If you do not have full fuel pressure on a cold start the injectors will not squirt fuel.
Do not leave home without it.
Engine running should be 60-66 lbs pressure depending on engine load.
Full pressure with return pinched off should be 75-85 or more.
And if it has a fast leak down after shut off you have a leak in system.
Post back fuel pressure readings.
