missing transfer case linedozindebbie 03-31-2009, 03:50 PM I have been working on my 1996 Dodge 1500 5.9 4 X 4 for a couple of months now. Have replaced many parts. No worry. It is after all 13 years old. It just quit running on me. When I would try to start it the engine would only run for a second. The tranny relay and the speed control servo would click. Replaced the tranny relay, same thing. Finally got the idea of removing the relay to see what would happen. Set the e brake and started the truck. It actually ran. Plugged the relay back in and wouldn't run. Started cleaning all the connections and checking all the wiring plugin's. Checked the starter and started working on the tranny and transfer case. Ahhh, there is a line completely missing on my transfer case. There is a plugin with four vacuum/vent lines. When unplugged the bottom looks like an arrow. There is an elbow right beside it without a line! Have checked all over, can't find a loose line anywhere. Haven't found where the other end should be. I am so close. :banghead: jpb53 03-31-2009, 04:19 PM That is a vent line and does not go anywhere specifically. When the front actuator moves from lock to unlock or vice-versa the vacuum has to be vented; that is what that line is for. It should have a little air vent filter on it to keep dirt out though. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
