I have a 90 GS integra thats stock now, once I pay off the money I owe my dad I'll start modding this one.

My girlfriend might be getting this 1998 Acura Integra GS-R.

My question is... how much would it take to make my 90 GS faster than her 98 GS-R... i/h/e, a test pipe, and a chip?

She's all bragging that her car will be faster, and I want mine to be faster :smoka:

drive better w/ those mod's an u can win. if not, then its gonna take more then simple bolts to beat her...try a 50 shot, an u'll beat her. simple as that.

i dont want to do nitrous and i cant afford turbo..

shes pretty new at driving a stick and doesnt shift as high rpm when shes trying to accelerate hella fast so i could let her ride in my car and top out my gears and she'd think it was faster... would i/h/e and a test pipe and a chip be enough?

i know.. guess i didnt make my question very clear :p

if i were to be driving the 90 GS with i/h/e, test pipe, and a chip would its 1/4 time be better than if i were driving the 98 GS-R...same driver

Get a set of crower cams and a skunk 2 intake manifold along with the I/H/E and you will beat her for sure. My friend has a 93 gs with the crower 62404's and it's hella fast from 3K to redline. We are going to race someday maybe before he sells the cams for he is going turbo and that cam profile is not good for turbo apps.

getting upgraded cams and a new intake manifold would be hellof expensive..

intake - 5 or 10
exhaust - 5
headers - 10
test pipe - 10 or 15
chip - 10

i would think after that it would be enough to beat a 98 gs-r especially if shes new at driving a stick

ur numbers are off. for i/h/e set-up look for MAYBE 10 hp from all three of those. test pipe will help u up top a lil, but u'll lose low-end, an the chip will give u around 5-7hp.

Even with that you still have less than a GSR hell even less than an Si.

I owned a 2nd Gen teggy a bit ago. They're nice, but no match for the GSR. Its got VTEC! Unless she really sucks at shifting, and shifts even before the VTEC kicks in, well yeah i guess you could beat her.

my advice before you even bother trying to upgrade the GS engine, and if you plan on beating new GSRs, I'd swap it, its not cheap, but neither is replacing internal componants. You could swap in a B18 with VTEC and then you'd be fighting, or even a B16 with VTEC would be an improvement.

Since you seem to jump back and forth as to whos driving this test of speed, heres a simple ricer trick that will probably work if she doesnt know whats up. Run your gastank on nearly E and fill hers up right before you race hers. Also take your spare tire out. ;)

Ahh, I have been moving and tring to get my new crappy ISP to stay up and running.

KentEX,

As for a swap , that is just a waste of money in a way example: say it takes $3k to do a b18c1 swap, well you now have a stock b18c1 with 170hp. But if you upgrade the b18a then you can get alot more hp than that for $3k. Think about it, no matter what ppl tell you the b18a and b18b have potential. Lets say for a moment that you do the cams I/H/E thing. I say you can do it yourself for around $1500 easily. And then I can assure you that you will walk away from a stock GSR and beat lightly moded(I/H/E etc) GSR's. Thats just my .02

well, he'd gain some power back.. cause remember he said...Headers :hehehe:

i know its a slip of the tongue but i always enjoy it when somebody with a I-4 says they've got Headers.

Crow makes some hefty cams and springs... All together the cams and springs are about 750 gaining you 18-22 hp alone.. Back them up with your I/H/E and the chip you shoudl be wanging with a good whats a stock gs 140 prolly close to 170-175 horse. So yeah your looking at 1500 bucks. And if you choose to go in that direction, a complete rebuild would be a good idea as well if you have the time and money. :2cents:
