Hazard Switch compatibility Question

I've got the usual turn signal not working problem that others have had, bad Hazard Switch. I can give the hazard switch a slight push sideways and the sturn signal come back for a few uses and I guess road vibration eventually gets it back into a dead position. I hit a local pull a part place here in Baltimore (Crazy Rays on Hollins Ferry Rd, HIGHLY recommend) to get a 16" spare tire for my 12" brake conversion (got it). While I was there I found a couple '98-'00 Inrigues and also got a combo hazard switch/cruise control button module. ONLY DIFFERENCE I can tell is My '01 hazard switch has an orange triangle that lights up when depressed (that popped into the switch button) while the '00 switch I got is solid w/ an orange triangle screened onto it. Is there any diffence between the two except the lighted hazard triangle? :uhoh:

Also picked up a pair of "Sterling Edition" badges off an '00 & 5 lug nuts which the didn't charge for.:iceslolan

Thanks in advance.

Brad442--

I had this go out on the 2000 Intrigue I got, and I would suspect the wiring harness for the 2000-2001 would be the same. I don't know about the visual look of the buttons being different.

I had heard that there were problems with some of the electrical joints in the switches used in 2000, and this was changed with a different part, but I'm not sure of that. Because all the research I did for the 2000 Intrigue prior to replacement only showed one GM part number.

I'd give it a shot if you can get it for a good price. Replacement is easy if you remove the radio and stick your hand in from there.

It is even easier if you take out the center vent for the AC and reach over! No screws to remove!

GM used same switch from 98-02 (they did make a few minor revisions, obviously). It'll work fine. The '00 switch should light up too, even though it looks like it doesn't.

And yeah, definitely don't take the radio out. Going through the vent is way easier.

Take out the center A/C vent & the trim surround in front of the instrument cluster and you can get it within 60 seconds! (No tools needed) Cleaned it up last night and the previous poster was right, it should light up as the "triangle" is flush w/ the button. Probably do the swap out this weekend. Thanks!:iceslolan

You shouldn't have to remove any trim. Just the vent.

Removing the surround in front of the instrument cluster allows FAT hands on both sides of the switch to press in the tabs releasing it from the dash mounting bracket. Right hand thru the center A/C vent, left hand from in front of the gauge cluster, and the black surround pulls out very easy, just don't pull too quick as the trip odometer buttons (display & reset) stays attached
