2000 crown vic not starting

i have the interceptor vic andi replaced the starter and still nothing the one wire to the starter has power the main wire the wire to the silonied gets power when turning the key thats where my problem is cause when i turn the key that wire is dead no power at all what can that be some1 said a fuseable link, another said its in the steering collum i dont know please help out a ford guy

I agree with the user who said fusible link, if the problem is in the steering column, not a fusible link, you can always go by a cheap universal push button start to mount on your dash

my best advice would be to get a Haynes manual for that vehicle and look in the wiring diagrams, you will be able to find the correct color for the wire in the steering column which goes to the solenoid switch, incase the ignition switch is the problem you could tie that wire into a pushbutton start. The book should also show you where your fusible links are. You can check those by doing a continouity test from one side to the other, no continouty means a bad fusible link. If you do not have an ohms meter instead you can check wth a test light, put the alligator clip on a good ground, have someone turn the key all the way over to start, check one side of the fusible link, and then the other. If it is lighting on one side, and not the other then the fusible link is bad. A Haynes manual once again should show you where the fusible links are and you should be able to find out which one too, maybe someone who already knows can reply though but I still would recommend you get one, them books come in handy.

Check your Private Messages.

Test for 12 volts at the locations indicated. This should help isolate the bad component or wire.

Use a test light if a voltmeter is unavailable.

thanks for the help but that wasnt it it turns out all this time it was a bad connection in the relay fuse box i had my friend hold the key forward and i started pulling on the wires and it kicked right over so now im gonna replace the whole box and rewire everything so thanks for the help and concern

Look closely at the wiring under the front bumper cover below the battery area. These are really bad about getting water in there and corroding the wires. You need to open the harness to look at the wiring. We have repaired quite a few broken wires there.
