Ok.. I bought an Amber colored bulb painted chromematic blue for an exotic look a few years ago to replace my OEM DRL. Now I want to replace it with an amber LED type 3157.. Does anyone know the pros and cons of this minor cosmetic upgrade and if it will work due to heat issues and compatibility?

your signals will blink fast with led's installed. There are higher quality LED's that have resistors built into them so they act like a normal bulb. The lights blink fast when a bulb burns out, but since led's use almost no power its virtually the same as having a burned out bulb.

Do you have any suggestions as what I can do for a new more unique inexpensive look that will not cause my flasher to blink fast.? THX ;)

Sylvania has one similar to the first one you used but it's also almost as bright as the LEDs. It's called a silverstar. I have them in my car and they work great.
