2007 suburban (PO4055) code

My '07 Suburban LTZ has 50k on it. After clearing the "gas cap code" (3 times) with a tek II tool (and blaming my wife for not "clicking" the cap. I replaced my gas cap(using factory replacement cap). 6 days later the "light" is on again. What should I do next???

Check all the EVAP hoses for cracks and splits at every elbow and connection.

You may need to take it to a dealer to have them smoke test the system to check for leaks. I have seen the canister vent valves stick open fairly often.

do you fill up the fuel tank all the way , then park vehicle...?
this will damage the cannister and the vent lines then get cannister goo in the controlling vent/pressure testing valves..

remove these lines to see if they are gooed up...

p0455 is an evap large leak detected code. most likely cause is a stuck open evap vent valve (not to be mistaken for the evap purge solenoid). gm has also released a service bulletin because of the location of the actual vent for the valve. there is a tube with a vent that runs up near the top of the fuel filler neck. sometimes debri can get into the tube and run down to the valve causing an issue. if i'm not mistaken a p0455 fix should be covered under the 5yr/100,000 warr. period. bring it to a dealership.

I made an appt. with a dealer today. I called three different dealers, they all said it is not covered under warranty past 36k. the only items that are (catalytic coverter, transmission module) upto 85k.

they are both located there... the evap one has a large mushroom like cap on it.. unless it's missing... the 5/100,000 mile warr. is a powertrain warr. wasn't sure about the evap being covered but most things powertrain related is covered under that warr. even axle seals.. tranny, engine.. but that's off topic

the emission warrantee should be at least 5 years...the fuel evap system and the other compenets would be covered...

do you over fill your fuel tank then park the vehicle with not driving far...?

No, I don't overfill then park vehicle. I took my vehicle to Greenwood Chevrolet in Austintown, Ohio. They Charged $186.00 to Smoketest, then replace "vent valve" and clear code. So, I now have a 12 month/12k warranty. Is this the average charge for this service??? Can anyone tell me the exact location of this valve for the "next time". I was told this is a common and reoccuring problem with the '07-'09 Suburban.

the tank on your vehicle is huge,,,,many fill then park vehicle...on a very warm day or if the vehicle is in a heated garage during the winter you have NO idea how much that fuel expands....this is how this system usually fails....the other reason is operating on very dusty off road conditions that foul the vent valve with debris...

being a 2007 I would think that this should be under the emissions warrantee....it is the fuel evap system....but I don't know if they reduced this coverage after my year..

the cost would be consistant with typical dealer over charges...they need all the cash they can make...the end is near for many dealerships..

the evap vent is on top of the fuel tank on mine....hard to see but never failed....

you got ripped off .. go back and demand your money back.. It is a warranty item. your shop is on crack.. but then again, it is ohio lol
