Try a new tune-up first.

i did that as soon as i got the car unless im missing something on a complete tuneup plugs and wires was replaced with a/c delco parts. it is not because the car is not running properly it is because of how it is programmed 105 seems to be the magic number on 99 oldsmobiles i had a 99 alero that shut down at the same speed and that was brand new 10miles on it

That is normal. The PCM module has a speed limiter/cutout. It depends on how the PCM is programmed and the speed rating of the stock tires which is considered in the programming by GM.

Our Alero has the speed limiter removed. See link.

You're welcome. The re-programmed PCM makes a big difference. :grinyes:

You can try www.intense-racing.com. I'm quite sure companies like DHP and ZZP do not have them ready to go for your year and model Olds. See link below.

WHOA!! Wish I read BNaylor's answer before I gave you all the things you could have checked. The re-programmed PCM is one I did not know about.

This is a great thing about this site you can learn something new every day.
By the way if u see the check list I did it was from a factory service manual.:grinyes:
