The first thing that should be checked is the powertrain on board diagnostic(OBD) system check.Having the proper OBD Scan or diagnostis tool would come in handy for some of these checks. It would give you a lot of codes to help diagnose what your lack of power could be caused from.

Check the air filter
Check for low fuel pressure
Check for contaminated fuel
Check for proper ignition coil output with a spark tester
Check ignition coil for cracks or carbon tracking
Check PCM grounds for being clean, tight and in proper location
Check exhaust system for obstructions
Check catalytic convertor by checking exhaust system back pressure
Check torque convertor for proper operation
Check boost control system(A scan tool range 0%-100%) represents the amount of manifold boost pressure commanded by the PCM.100% indicates full boost commanded

Lots to check Good luck
