Transmission trouble

I have a 95 GMC K1500 pickup, V8 5.7L. VIN# 1GTEK19K2SE544628
last weekend it wouldn't downshift at all, it would chug from a stop and wouldn't really pick up speed until it got some momentum behind it. So I took it to the shop and they said the tranny had 5 trouble codes, they are

66 3/2downshift #2 solinoid
67 quad driver 2 solinoid
81 shift solinoid b circuit
82 shift solinoid a circuit
83 torque converter quad driver module

I had to continue to drive it because of work and only vehicle, so I shifted it as needed. I had to go to the store today and just tried throwing it into drive and it was in first and upshifted great, downshifted fine, and just seems normal. I checked the fluid again and now its really dirty so I'm changing it tomorrow, but its shifting........WOOHOO........so my question is, should I be worried? should I still have it checked or was it just maybe a sticky solinoid? I'm on a tight budget since the economy sucks and I've been laid off a lot, actually laid off right now for a while so I don't really have the cash to throw into it right now to get a new tranny. I just bought the thing about a month ago and now wondering if I got taken on the deal. I really appriciate any advice you guys could give me, I'm just a backyard mechanic, I haven't done much work on vehicles, I've changed ball joints and hubs ect..............I helped my old man change a tranny a couple of times but that was years ago. Thank you for in advance for any help you can give me.

Welcome to AF. It would appear the solenoid/s are in failure mode, that causes the quad driver code also. Be prepared to replace them in the near future.

Thank you for the welcome to AF, I might be on here a lot picking everyones brain for advice on the truck. Would you happen to know a rough estimate on getting it fixed? how difficult it is? I mean are the solinoids inside the tranny or within reach? I don't mean to ask stupid questions, but like I said I'm on a tight budget, if I can fix it myself or delay the inevitable for a few months. Or do you think I shouldn't waste my time changing the fluid and just get it in. could I cause more damage driving it? or just a quicker solinoid failer? Thanks again

The solenoids can be replaced by dropping the pan. Here is an instruction data sheet from a company that sells solenoid kits.

Thank you, at least now if it does go I know I can replace this stuff myself and not have to pay $150/per hour for someone else to do it. You guys are great! Thanks again
