I've tried to remind myself repeatedly to put my seatbelt on before starting the car, but when it's -20C outside my first priority is to get warm.

I hate the annoying reminder beep!

i haaaaate it.

hate it.

help me make it go away forever? :)

Buckle your seat belt and the bell goes away.

I have a '98 which only has a light, no bell. I see your point as I've driven shivering a few blocks before putting it on the few days that I don't walk out and start it up 15 mins. before launch time. Might be the same chime that warns about your key in the ignition before lockin'em in tho if you disable it by cutting the wire. (who actually listens to that?) Just a guess. If you have a good ear I'd think that you can find the source. If not you can always go to the local junkyard & slice off a male slab to shove into the receiver & it'll think you're smart.

THE MAN has decided that you put on your seat belt, you will comply!

Near my house I've seen 8 cops at major intersections walking lanes writing tickets for no belts. Also see cops frequently with binoculars looking for shoulder straps. I think the fine is $75. Click-It-or-Ticket. lol. It might raise your insurance if you get caught, & all of our's if you F-yourself up & our insurance co. has to pay for it...

I know this isn't what you're for but you might want to think about just putting it on.

Glad I could help...:)

you misunderstand me good sirs!

I DO buckle up, I just always do it AFTER i have started my car and the annoying beeping is going off.

events:

a) i start car
b) furious beeping assaults my ears!
c) i put on my seatbelt

events as i should like them to be:

a) i start car
b) i put on seatbelt in peace and quiet

If there's no solution short of cutting wires though I'll have to just deal with it though, I'd rather not have to repair it if I chose to sell my car.

its a simple two wire system to the belt lock on the right hand side of you. Now clicking the belt either opens the circuit or closes it...meaning either the wires have to be cut and left open or wired together to get the bell to stop. It will be one of the two, the buckle is really just a toggle switch for the wires. Cut the wires, if it goes away then good, tape them and leave it. If it doesn't go away, connect the wires together and try that...making sure no bare wires short out on anything.
