Axle Seal?

Grand GT

I have a 2002 grand am gt. I have just started to hear a slight grinding noise a low speeds (less then 20kph). The sound goes away at higher speeds; it is there when I am off or on the brakes. This started about the same time I noticed what looks to be a small transmission leak. Would it be accurate to assume this would be the axle seal on the transmission causing the problems?
I also notice as squeaking noise when I am going up the ramps in a parade but this noise happens only if the wheels are turned in either direction. Is this problem related?

A seal wont make a grinding noise, but it's possible the leak (and resulting low fluid) caused a bearing to go bad. I'm assuming you don't check the level regularly since it's so hard to check not on a hoist, am I right? I would replace the leaking seal and top off the fluid and see if the noise is still there. The squeaking (would squealing be a better description?) is most likely your tires on the smooth concrete.
