 I shut down my 96 Grand Cherokee and I failed to turn the headlights off, once I turn off my headlights they click off and come back on. I can't find anything in the owners manual about this. Is there something I should be fixing here?

There are only three positions on the Headlight switch: Off, Park, and Headlights. There is no auto position. Someone told me it may be the body control module that could be going out.

Does the jeep have factory daytime running lights?

You have a Loredo I take it.
it might be the BCM, then.

No, these jeeps do not have Daytime Running Lights (new WJ or WK might) but you can turn your AUTO HEADLIGHT System (if equipped) into DRL by just disconnecting the SOLAR SENSOR on the top of the dash - thats what I did.

The reason I asked was if it was a model made for Canada, which are often sold in the U.S the daytime running lights module can keep the lights on if it fails. Some Jeeps sold in the U.S have the daytime running lights, but the dealer turns them off via pcm/bcm programming. If your 96 does have one it will be under the power distribution box with a harness plugged into it.

Okay Guys My Jeep Grand Cherokee is a Loredo but I can't find any Solar Sensor on the dash, perhaps I am looking at it and not knowing what I am looking at. My Jeep has no extra Canada Jumper in the engine compartment.

Are you sure it isn't a delayed shutoff deal where they stay lit for 1-2 mins so you can see to get into your house?

Does you rjeep have the AUTO Headlights, if not there will be no solar sensor, the solar sensor is on the top of the dash, driverside.

Okay Guys after a few minutes the lights go out on their own so I think it is a good thing. I just wish when I turned the lights out the first time that would be that.
