good morning and hello to all

can anyone point me to the right direction..

i have a manual chilton for my 1998 voyager and it mentioned on the book about VSS, vehicle speed sensor but i could not find where it is located. i only see these sensors or switch on the tranny, input(turbine)speed sensor, neutral switch and output sensor,

i am assuming my tranny is the 4 speed, 3.3L , i still have this lil jerk after i replaced the tranny fluid and filter with ATF +4 and a guy from Edmunds.com said speed sensor is bad, which one?

any help & thanks

been running around lately to try to figure it out
:runaround:

Here is a picture of all the compotenents and locations of tranny:

I would changed both sensors, they are about 16 bucks a piece IIRC.

If your gear pattern indicates PRND3L you have the 4 speed 41TE transmission. To be sure call your stealership but, I'm 99% sure the 4 speed just uses the input/output speed sensors. I want to say the 3 speed transaxle uses a VSS. Let us know.

If you've been driving it at least a week since you changed the fluid then start looking at parts. Otherwise, keep driving. The transmission "memorises" your driving habits as you drive in order to soften shift harshness. If you previously had something other than ATF4 in the tranny, it needs some time to get used to the new fluid.

To add to the confusion, when you drop the pan to change the fluid, you're only removing a third of the fluid at best. The rest is trapped in the torque converter and cooler. To get it all out you can pump it out the disconnected cooler lines, keeping it topped off with new fluid as you go or suck the fluid out the dipstick using a $25 pump available at most auto parts stores. You then refill it with ATF4, drive it around to mix the fluid, and repeat this process 2-3 more times.

i did suck and rev the van to get all the old dexron III fluid out , i filled with 3 ATF+4 then suck it out again then drove it around then filled it up again till full on the line on the dipstick.

so far it drives smoother than before and less jerk, i will monitor and drive it for few more days and if still happens then i will go for those 2 sensors.

thanks for the reply.
