S-10 running roughBig_ Easy 03-04-2009, 08:18 PM I just replaced the spark plugs on my 88 s-10 and now it is running rougher than before I changed the plugs. It is very hard to start off in 1st gear with out it stalling. I took the plugs back out and double checked the gap which is set .35. Any ideas what I could look for or try and do to correct this problem. old_master 03-04-2009, 09:39 PM Check the plug wires, you may have crossed some when replacing the plugs. Best to do one at a time when replacing plugs or wires. What engine do you have? I'll post a diagram of the plug wire routing. AJT1961 03-05-2009, 01:17 AM This happened to me once. Turned out the problem was that there was a hairline crack in one of the brand new AC Delco plugs which I didn't notice which caused the plug to ground out. I still have a few gray hairs from the day it took me to figure that one out. Also, it could be a bad ignition wire made worse by the handling necessary to change plugs. Or as old master mentioned, it could be a crossed wire -- it's easier to do that than you'd think if you don't follow the "one at a time" rule -- but on the bright side, you usually only make that mistake once in your lifetime. Big_ Easy 03-11-2009, 01:04 PM I lost my computer and was not able to reply and say thanks. It was one of the wires that was done. Replaced and all is good. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
