Hello. I have finally found a 2004 Crown Victoria LX that is in beautiful shape. It has 85k miles but is in brand new condition. 1 owner with excellent service history and records. Are the regular crown vic's as tough and reliable as the police interceptors? thank you in advance

Both models were more alike than different. Both have rack and pinion steering, rear wheel drive and a body and frame setup. Both use the same Flex Fuel 4.6L V8 modular engine with 4 speed automatic transmisson. The PI had an engine oil cooler, heavy duty shocks, heavy duty brakes, heavy duty cooling system and heavy duty transmission. The PI transmission had firmer and harder shifts with more agressive shift points. The PI had a 200 amp alternator whera the Lx had a 130 amp alternator. The pI had stainless dual exhaust system without resonators, wheras the Lx had a stainless single exhaust system with resonators. The PI sits an inch higher than the Lx and has a higher rate of spring. way2old and shorod are the experts on this not me. Maybe they could add something.

You forgot the front anti roll bar. The LX has a 1 inch bar---the CVPI has a 1 1/16 inch bar.:lol2: You pretty well covered it. The CVPI also has a higher fuel cut off than the LX. I think the LX is at 118 and the CVPI is 128. Enjoy it.
