tire wear

i have a 2005 sierra z71 put new tires on at 40000 now at 44000 show uneven wear on rear tires the middle is lot more wear than edges. front tires show cupping or choppy wear. i had front end aligned at same time as new tires installed. i run 35psi and check on a regular basis, mech., said shocks are fine any ideas?? by the way cooper discovery tires.

Usually center wear patterns are caused by overinflation or too narrow a rim for the tire size. The cupping can be caused by bad shocks, or toe in, or just an aggresive tread that requires more frequent rotation.

thanks for the info. tire company called and are offering me new tires .one option cooper ht for even trade out or goodyear wrangler ht at $190.00 total for new set. any opionions.

I would opt for the Coopers.
As suggested, rotate the tires more frequently. If you change the engine oil every 3000 miles, that would be a good time to rotate the tires.
Also try running the tires at 32psi. It may stop the center of the tire from wearing first.
Another suggestion would be to have the alignment checked (if not already done). 4X4s do have a tendency to wear the front tires more quickly.
Finally, despite the truck having the Z71 package and only 44,000 miles on it, it still might be wise to put some better shocks on it. Factory shocks are very soft compared to what the aftermarket has to offer. You may find that a good set of aftermarket shocks will offer more control and stop the bad tire wear.
Anyway, that's just my opinion.

thanks, i had the cooper ht's installed,and the alignment was checked again ,they said it was right on the money,at 20.same mech. said shocks are fine,but i will have them checked again.by another mech. thanks

one more question, if i get new shocks, would i have to get the front end alignment again ??

No alignment necessary.
My suggestion for shocks would be Rancho. They're low end non-adjustable shocks would be fine.
