Front Door speaker Replacement Issues

I just replaced the front driver and passenger door speakers with Infinity kappa's 62.9i. I bought them since they are 2 ohm speakers and so is the infinity system in the car. I used the crossovers that were connected to them. The problem is they sound so underpowered as if the factory amp wasn't even there and they were run by the deck only. I tried with and without the crossovers and the bass reponse is horrible. I'm not talking about having them sound like a sub by any means but they sound like cheap walmart replacements. Is this because they are 2-way? any other 300m owners have this issue? Is there way to get a better sound out of these speakers without replacing the factory system?

Do both of your sails work? If not, then that could be a problem. Also, is the polarity correct on both speakers? If you have the AC amp they had some polarity problems. The AB amps are the good ones.

By the way, do not use the speaker crossovers. Crossovers are built into the amp.

The sails both work, I'm not sure about the amp though. I took it down to a local car stereo install place and they tried to tell me I needed a new deck, amp and I should go with a sub for all my bass needs. They also wanted to install the rear 6x9's I bought and told me they'd have to cut holes in my rear deck to access the speakers which is total bs. I'm not sure what is wrong, but I'd rather deal with it, then have these morons tear apart my 300m. Thanks.

Just noticed this one, I'll bypass them tomorrow, and thanks!

I replaced the speakers w/o the crossovers only to get the same result but worse. I bought another pair and hooked them up w/o the crossovers and they sound great now. I couldn't see any visible damage on the first set and they were sealed NIB(new In box.) Thanks for all your help!

Glad it all worked out. Frustrating that it was the equipment you purchased, but at least you gotta feel good that it wasn't your fault.
