i hit a snowbank last night my at temp, charging.and some other lights lit up on the dash....temp was normal...i figured my alt belt flew off..since my alt belt is on its own.. the water pump is with the timing belt and the power steering is on its own and had flew off hours before...i beater for home in the snow storm with no lights..barely got home and the battery was dead...soooo i brought the batt in to charge ...as i was under the hood i noticed the alt belt was still on....hmmmmmm so why is it not charging.....with a good batt it will start and run and the lights on the dash go out...as the batt dies the lights come on....it will not run with out the batt hooked up...fuses look good...i doubt the alt went so suddenly...i figure a wire got broke off somewhere on impact....any one else have any ideas??....its a 4 cyl

First thing, if you have voltmeter, is to check the voltage at the battery when the car is running.

Depending on where and how you hit the bank, I'm guessing some snow got into the electrical connections, and perhaps the alternator itself, and is now a nice watery short-circuit. Double-check connectors and blow them dry with compressed air, have the alternator bench-tested, and check your grounds.

All those lights going on indicate you killed your alternator. As JDM said, get it tested; and bring money for a new one....
