The Original Corvette Grand Sport 003

I am currently building one of my favorite American cars of all time, the 1963 Corvette Grand Sport chassis 003.

Corvette Grand Sport was built by Zora Arkus-Duntov and his engineers to challenge the dominance of Shelby Cobra. There were only a total of five cars built, and all of them still exist until this day.

The heart of the Grand Sport is the 377 cubic inch small block, which was fed by four 58mm Weber carburetors. The engine was said to produce 485 horsepower at 6000 rpm. It is also significantly lighter than the C2 Z06.

The kit is of course from Accurate Miniatures.

Original Accurate Miniatures decals and PE sets.

My LHS was having 50% off on all car accessories, so I've got me MCG PE set, flocking, two Pulley sets (DM and MCG), SMS fasteners, dzus, washers, etc. The Hobby Design seat belts and toggle switches are from Stradasports.

Thank you for looking!

Well I like what I see and read so far. But I do have to question the Flocking. I'm pretty sure these cars didn't have carpeting.

Oh I beg to differ!! The interiors were very much stock and did include carpeting... so he is right to do so....

Thank you for the link, that is the exact one I used for this build :D

I am not sure whether the original car used carpeting or not when racing in 1960s (I don't have any reference pics to that), but the version I'm currently building is the present day Grand Sport Chassis 003.

Hey Tham, I recently got this kit together with some up-grade parts so I am counting on you for a detailed and thorough WIP so I know what I am in store for :D

This is one of those kits that I keep seeing around but one that I had never taken the step to actually buying (after realising just how many kits I already have...) so it's good to see someone taking the plunge with one.
Now if only someone would build their McLaren M8C...

Well that photo tells the truth! A race car with carpeting, how posh is that?. I have this kit along with HRM extras (Arms and exhaust pipes) and the MCG multimedia set. I have not yet started it so I'm looking forward to what you will be doing here.
