my car has the automatic rear load levers. What I would like to know is can this system be replaced with a conventional strut system.
Thanking one and all in advance.

Yes ,but the rear will sit low as the springs with alc are different.

Good to know thanks. You think I could add an extra leaf spring to compensate for the lowering of the vehicle?

There is no leaf spring there are coil springs.

i have a 99 LSS with the auto leveling system and i have noticed my car likes to sit high in the back and when it does it makes the whole car ride bad because the rear end is so stiff when the suspension is up high. it has not done this for a while but when it does it is very annoying can someone help me

If your back end is up to its highest point it might be that it is not adjusting properly. The ELC consists of an air compressor, air dryer, exhaust solenoid, compressor relay, sensor, air adjustable shocks, air tubing and pressure limit switch. Any one of these could be causing your problem.

When a load is added to the vehicle, the vehicle body moves down, causing the sensor actuating armto rotate upwards.(An arn movement of about 1"will amount to a height change of about 1/2" at the rear bumper.) The upward arm movement activates an internal timing circuit, and after an initial, fixed delay of 17 to 27 seconds, the sensor provides a ground to complete the compressor relay circuit. The 12V(+) circuit to the compressor is then complete and the compressor runs, sending pressurized air to the shocks through air tubes. This raises the vehicle. When it reaches its original height ,the sensor opens the compressor relay cicuit and the compressor shuts off.

So after all that what I would do first is start the car , put about two hundred pounds in the trunk and see if the compressor starts. If it does not then u have a lot of things to check.(Like the items I mentioned in the beginning.
Good luck

is urs a canadian car maybe they go a lil faster than the us version mine shuts down at 105 the engine will pull way farther but it shuts down. i want to say mine is running about 4500rpm in 3rd gear when it reaches it limit so i know if it was unrestricted it would run 120-130 no problem
