well the past couple of days the wife said the intrigue was over heating and would trip the light. so i looked into it.. the fans come on the coolant is full and the engine is not running hot! the temp gauge says 254! where is the coolant located on the 3.5?? i want to see if that would fix it???

I had similar symptoms back in the fall and replacing the thermostat fixed my problem.

if you are looking for the coolant sensor, I believe it is located under the coolant reservoir.

The Chiltons says the Engine Coolant Temperature sensor is located:

"on the flywheel end of the engine, on the right side (rear) cylinder head."

Thats rather vague, it does have a picture, but I dont think I could ever upload it with any degree of quality.

I believe the coolant level sensor is located in the overflow, I always thought it was the temp sensor, but the other location does make more sense.
