2000 has troouble starting sometimes

MY wife's 2000 3.8 sometimes will not start, hot or cold, unless the gas peddle is pushed right to the floor. I happened three times last week. The first time it happened, she called, and it was the first thing I thought to tell her to do, having used this method on old carburetor cars when they flooded. Is the Lesabre getting flooding? It has always started, even remotely, without touching the gas peddle. It has about 200k miles on it and runs perfectly
otherwise.
Anything I need to change or clean to stop this minor nuisance?
Thanks.

I would first check & clean the idle air control (IAC). Do you have a scanner that will read live data?

No...the only scanner??? I have reads OBDII codes and there are none in memory. I will locate (I hope) and clean the IAC.
Thanks for the reply.
