hello everyone, i my 98 saturn coupe sc2,automatic transmission, just can't seem to start. Now when the problem first started, when i turned the key over the car would just click once and that was it. Then sometimes if i waiting a couple days when i turned the key over it would click, and if i held the key turned a few seconds it would start. I thought starter, $60 well wasted(luckily i get parts at cost). If anyone has any suggestions, or possible ideas, please let me know.

other minor things i have eliminated
-alternator and battery are fine
-injectors/fuel lines/'filter/'pump all fine

Thank you, im sure its something rather obvious, but im really just not sure what it is lol.

Since the engine is not even turning over, and you do not hear a click noise that indicates an electrical/ignition issue not the starter.

Do the lights work? How do they look when they are on when you attempt to start the car?

Try starting the car in Neutral

Move the shifter back and forth and then try to start the car with it in Park.

Depending on usage or if you have alot of keys on your keyring its possible the electrical switch on the end of the ignition cylinder is bad. Best bet is to diagnose it versus throwing parts at it, not popular due to sometimes being time consuming, but it is much more cost effective.
