I have a 1995 saturn sc2 and this morning we had a heavy snow. I forgot that the wipers were in the 12 noon position and when i started the car, the weight of the snow caused something to break under the cowl. I know the motor works because I can hear it turn on and off when I flip the switch. Has anyone ever had to replace the arm that is on the inside of the cowl? Is it a difficult job? And do you have any ideas what may have broken? No i havent removed the cowl yet its too darn cold.

You may have broken the arm that connects the wipers to the motor. You need to get in there to look to see specifically though. Sorry!

its possible you also could have just split the arm where the shaft goes through it. take the little cap off where the wiper pivots, and see if the shaft/nut are still spinning when you turn the wipers on. Thats happened to me before.
