What a Weekend - PNWX at NachesXlax 10-22-2001, 12:40 AM just got back from a GREAT weekend with 25 ! X's from PNWX. 2 solid days of 4xx4ing, hanging out and discovering Vodka,Chocolate milk and peppermint Schnaps (Damm you Schlud,Rick and antitree molester):p Naches is 2nd to none...... 2 days of 4x4ing and pushing your "Hutspa" to new levels while learning the importance of the E-brake in making that impossible hill. I am sure Schlud,Mosi and others will have pictures posted soon. I was driving home and reflecting on how nice it was to get away from CNN,Anthrax,Osama and all the shit that currently makes up our world. Thanks to all, lets do it again real soon....... Claus ps.. got the 3rd at the border, but the Customs officer was HOT ! rrdstarr 10-22-2001, 01:58 AM I think I captured all the X's? Schludwiller 10-22-2001, 01:59 AM Yes, a great weekend. Lots of new members, lots of new faces. 25 trucks (23 pictured)came out this time! Schludwiller 10-22-2001, 02:04 AM Xlax giving it the gas, as his spotters yell "punch it!" Schludwiller 10-22-2001, 02:05 AM After some apprehension. Xlax says "screw it" and charges up Moon Rocks. Xlax 10-22-2001, 02:16 AM Rocking !. The moon rocks looks worse than is really is. Stock X once again has me amazed.....Let me know when you have the pictures uploaded Schlud. Also let Jens know if you need server space.... We drove 5 hours home in pouring rain, I just had a look adn all the mud is Gone ! C ChuckH 10-22-2001, 05:58 AM You missed more fun stuff after we split up. Two of us without stock trucks and one stocker, uh, ended up sliding off the trail. Nothing major...just needed to work a little harder than usual and use the gas pedal! :D Having all the mud definately made the Naches more interesting (read: FUN) than normal. Glad you guys came down! :) Antitree_hugger 10-22-2001, 12:33 PM Hey Schludwiller where are the pics of you messing around in moon rocks? Ben They're coming. I have a lot of great shots plus video. I was just too tired last night, and I wanted to get a few up for Xlax since he was the first to post. :D wqbang 10-22-2001, 01:14 PM Originally posted by ChuckH Two of us without stock trucks and one stocker, uh, ended up sliding off the trail. That hill was like driving uphill in snot. I picked up enough trash this weekend to clear my concience about sliding off the trail. Its not like we had a choice about leaving the trail, we just kind of ended up there! mudphud 10-22-2001, 03:13 PM I'll upload the pictures later, but I managed to put a nice big scratch from the left rear passenger door all the way to the back of the X. About 10 minutes later, while I was going up that muddy hill everyone had to power up, I managed to bump my right front tire into a root and break off the hub cap. There still some chunks of wood stuck under the screws and I think my alignment is slightly off now. I have to turn the wheel to the left a bit to keep going in a straight line. I made it up both Moon Rocks and Funny Rocks again in my stock X, even with the mud! You doubters can just shove off now! :finger: j/k Too bad no one got pictures though... Schludwiller 10-22-2001, 04:31 PM Huh. That's odd. Don't know how that happened. -Ian rrdstarr 10-22-2001, 05:26 PM I tweeked my steering on that one too Mudphud! The X tracks staright down the road okay but the steering wheel is tipped about 35 degrees to the left! That is also where I popped the bead on the tire by jamming it into a root! Probably the same root that shredded yours and Chad's hub caps! I'll get my alignment Wednesday! evergreen 10-22-2001, 06:25 PM the terrain in naches blew my mind. i am happy i didn't talk myself out of going up funny rocks and moon rocks. those where the best parts. Schludwiller 10-22-2001, 06:38 PM When we don't have as many trucks, we'll do the Naches Wagon trail which is a great run. It's SUV raiting is a 7 (and an Xterra is just short enough to negotiate through the turns), but goes up to at least a 8 when it's wet. :D mudphud 10-22-2001, 08:59 PM Sounds like fun, Schlud....guess I'll have to get those MT tires before I try that trail. :) Oh yeah, I forgot to mention on my previous post, that my front license plate is deformed too. The way it's mounted on the ARB is really stupid...it just kinda hangs there. evergreen 10-22-2001, 10:17 PM what was the trail rating for this past weekend. ChuckH 10-22-2001, 10:31 PM Just a guess, but I think our most difficult stuff this weekend was between 7 and 8. Thing is, we only had a few spurts of it and spent most of our time on nice roads. I'd say the Wagon Trail is probably a continous 5-7or 8 rating at most all times, so it's slow going (that's why we don't want to do it with 23 trucks). It's also quite narrow in places, aside from steep spots and such. Lots of driving over tree roots and things too. It's not horribly difficult and nothing a stock truck can't do when dry, but if it's wet it can be pretty scary, me thinks! I've done the Naches in a CJ-5 with my Brother when it was wet and we didn't make it home without body damage! Basically, add the snot-like mud we had this weekend, but put it on very steep hils! yikes! Quite honestly, I don't think I would take my truck on the Naches when wet like that and certainly not without some very good mud tires. It's just too narrow and too steep in places to navigate without body damage, IMO. Toy Man 10-22-2001, 11:04 PM I just happen to have 2 front hub caps for sale. Sounds like I could have sold them if I had stayed for the Sunday run. wqbang 10-22-2001, 11:57 PM Here is one of Schlud at moon rocks. Just about everyone used their sliders on this line. Sorry about the green line. My camera needs to be sent to olympus for repairs. ChuckH 10-23-2001, 12:01 AM Uh, actually that's Funny Rocks, but we'll let it slide this time since you're new in town! :D It was great to finally meet you and I hope we see you on lots of future outings! wqbang 10-23-2001, 12:02 AM ...from the top of Moon, er... uh... Funny Rocks. wqbang 10-23-2001, 12:06 AM Originally posted by ChuckH Uh, actually that's Funny Rocks, but we'll let it slide this time since you're new in town! :D I am not surprised. I barely know my way to work! It was great to finally meet you and I hope we see you on lots of future outings! That is cool because I have a feeling I am going to be at alot of them. superjens 10-23-2001, 12:50 AM I guess you can call me backwards boy, here's the reverse shots of a couple of Schlud's pics... http://www.superjens.com/pictures/naches/ass-end.jpg http://www.superjens.com/pictures/naches/claus-charging.jpg Xlax 10-23-2001, 12:57 AM Originally posted by mudphud Sounds like fun, Schlud....guess I'll have to get those MT tires before I try that trail. :) Oh yeah, I forgot to mention on my previous post, that my front license plate is deformed too. Hitting the funny rocks with your stock tires was nuts (in hind sights I regret not trying). What a ROCKING weekend, so when is the next outing???? C ChuckH 10-23-2001, 01:09 AM Originally posted by wqbang ...from the top of Moon, er... uh... Funny Rocks. Hehe, that's Andy! Mosi's X is silver, has an aluminum ARB skid, and only has two round lights up front! Sorry, I just can't help but pick on the new guy tonight! :D Schludwiller 10-23-2001, 01:55 AM I like this picture because it captures some of the distance and height at Funny Rocks. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/attachment.php?s=&postid=85612 Schludwiller 10-23-2001, 03:16 AM Nothing like seeing a jeep stuck while an Xterra (ToyMan) drives by. :D (from video) superjens 10-23-2001, 09:41 AM Video, Schlud? Share, man, share! What's the format? If it's VHS or other non-digital, send me a copy. I can capture and convert to mpeg, even make video-CD's from it. wqbang 10-23-2001, 11:48 AM Originally posted by ChuckH Hehe, that's Andy! But correct me if I am wrong :D Philosopher 10-23-2001, 12:22 PM Originally posted by Schludwiller I like this picture because it captures some of the distance and height at Funny Rocks. That is an excellent shot ... kudos! BTW - how the hell did Andy mount 4 lights on the front of the ARB? Extra bracketry ... ? Schludwiller 10-23-2001, 12:42 PM Originally posted by Philosopher That is an excellent shot ... kudos! BTW - how the hell did Andy mount 4 lights on the front of the ARB? Extra bracketry ... ? ARB makes light mounting brackets that go around the main bar tube. He originally had the two above the bar, but moved them down for more visability. Maddog 10-23-2001, 12:48 PM Having wheel'd with him, what are your impressions of the extra 2 lights mounted on the ARB? I kinda like the look of the setup, but am curious as to whether the 2 lights would be more beneficial mounted on the roof? Thanks Dog mudphud 10-23-2001, 02:44 PM Originally posted by Xlax Joe i have a newfound respect for you and your fearless driving abilities. C:smoker2: Fearless...or perhaps just stupid. :D It was fun either way. A big thanks to Andy for spotting and getting me up that hill. Couldn't have done it without him! :sun: Toy Man 10-23-2001, 03:48 PM Well Funny Rocks taught me that while lockers are great on dry surfaces, they are not quite so great when you are trying to rock climb with muddy all terrain tires. The lockers helped but there was a lot of slipping going on. Philosopher 10-23-2001, 04:04 PM Originally posted by Schludwiller ARB makes light mounting brackets that go around the main bar tube. Thanks Dog Personally I like having two lights on my ARB and two on my roofrack. I get two different angles of illumination on obstacles instead of a ton of light coming from one angle. But some people might not want lights up high for clearance issues. Also my IPF 960's tend to be more of a directional driving light, while my IPF MSR's have more of a flood pattern. The two compiment each other very well. evergreen 10-23-2001, 05:02 PM Fearless...or perhaps just stupid. It was fun either way. A big thanks to Andy for spotting and getting me up that hill. Wow, I was an inspiration for someone! mudphud 10-23-2001, 05:31 PM I made it up funny rocks just fine, but on that snot-mud hill, I caused some damage...scratch and broken hub cap from my front right hub! BTW, did someone say they had an extra hub cap I could buy? They're only $10 on xterraparts.com, but it costs almost $9 for shipping... http://neuron.neurosurgery.washington.edu/~jtho/album/PNWX/0110Naches/DCP_0631.JPG http://neuron.neurosurgery.washington.edu/~jtho/album/PNWX/0110Naches/DCP_0633.JPG OffroadX 10-23-2001, 06:03 PM Ouch, that's an nasty scratch. Is it deep? I know a lot of 'em look nasty but look a heck of a lot better after you wash and wax. A little epoxy will fix that cap, provided you still have the metal ring that holds it on. Brent mudphud 10-23-2001, 07:35 PM that little plastic ring is all that's left. I think I'll just go pick up another one. They're less than $10. mindie 10-23-2001, 10:17 PM Here's a neat one of Schlud... http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid27/p96423a92938da312afae63838bead969/fe2be308.jpg Xlax 10-23-2001, 11:52 PM Originally posted by evergreen Fearless...or perhaps just stupid.
