maybe check connection on the crank sensor since you were down in that area working?

I did that & it seems as though my moms "95" LeSabre has a left over engine from 94.It busted to crank shaft positioning sensor from the "whatever ring" being slightly narrower. Is that a common practice for the Big Three to use up last years engine before installing the newer model engine? or is the "Parts Professional" just trying to cover his ass & blaming Buick for his $^&@ UP by giving me the wrong part :runaround:

Where did you get the balancer and what brand is it? Did you compare the reluctor (3x-18x) rings with the original? You need to check the ring gaps in relation to the hub keyway, for comparison on both balancers! Sounds like the wrong part to me!

The reluctor rings are different. The new one has a narrower space between them which broke the crank sensor. The part store said that they think I may have a 94 engine in the 95 so I will be taking everything to the part store to make sure I get the correct parts. How can I determine if the part store gave me the wrong balancer and I dont have a 94 engine in the 95 LeSabre?I really need to know for sure what year this engine is for future repair's???:screwy::runaround:

Can somebody help mi ID my eng. year I know it is a 3.8 & the car is a 95 LeSabre.I bought a new Harmonic Balancer for the 95 installed it,no spark removed the balancer found broken crank sensor for the most part the balancers were the same size except the reluctor rings were diff. Part store said I may have a 94 engine in the 95.How do I determine which engine I have? or did the part store pull & give me the wrong balancer? The balancer is a Dorman # 594-004 anyway to look up that # to check? any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

i found that the 94 model pn is 594034 versus the 594004, its basically the same enigne as far as i know, for some reason the balancer is different. one reason could be that your 95 model could have been made in late 94 or early 95 and this is reason for it. check mfg date on inside of door jam. from now on have parts stores look up 94 and 95 models to check pn to see if different now that you know that you have a 94 engine for some reason
