BRAKE Booster- good or bad?

Hi folks, notcie my break pedal a getting stuiff and more pressure required to stop the car. I drive a 1999 Lesabre well maintained. Pads are clean and good as well as the shoes. I'm thinking someting might be up with the electronic break booster. I read the Hayes manual but no indication fo how to test or diagnosis. Would appreciate some expert advise. thanks

What kind (brand) of rotors & pads do you have?

Hi Mr Moderator... the rotors are OEM... never been changed.. 170KM on the vehicle.. the pads... have been done recently and they are recommended for the application and put on by a very reputable repair shop.. I think theyre Reybestos but would need to check.. what are you thinking?

I was thinking you recently replaced the pads and the shop either did not replace, or turn the existing rotors and installed pads that were too hard. BTW, the brake booster is vacuum controlled, not electronic. If you will do a search for “brake pads rotors” you will find some very informative threads on the subject.

Ceramic pads tend to do that. The coefficient of friction is nowhere near that of metallic nor carbon-metallic linings.

That said, for normal stopping, there should not be a substantial difference in pedal pressure unless the rotors are glazed. Since you just recently paid for brake service, and the brakes are now not functioning as expected, you would be within your rights to return to the service center and ask for warranty service.
