Just swapped the transmission with one from the junkyard, the transmission will shift into reverse and drive, but it will not upshift at all. Kinda lost on what to do... :/

Car is a 99 SL1.

First...make sure you got the correct tranny. You can only use a MP6 tranny from '99 - '02. Junkyards say any tranny will fit which is true, however the insides are different in other years. Check the top of the bell housing for a stamp in the metal to determine the year and type of the tranny. Someitmes junkyards write down the wrong year.

Double check to make sure you put all the connections on right. There should be a few plugs going to the gear selector on the tranny. Make sure no wires are pinched between the bell housing and engine block.

Why did you replace your old tranny in the first place? When purchasing a used junkyard Auto tranny, there is a risk it was there in the first place bc Reverse Slam syndrome took its toll.

Replace the ECTS as it is vital to tranny operations.

The transmission does shift, it appears that I'm having problems with 1st gear. RPM has to be @ around 4k for it to shift into 2nd and then the transmission shifts normally on the rest of the gears.

I replaced the transmission because the old one went to hell, flywheel came apart while driving. Also how much do the ECTS cost? I'll check stamp and see what it says.

CHeck the stamp. Make sure its clean fluid in the tranny.

ECTS is 10 bucks + teflon tape

I have a 2000 Saturn 4 door. I keep getting the wrench light going on. I stop the car and turn the engine off and wait a minute or two. Then I restart the car the light goes off and I drive normally. The wrench finally came on in the day time and we brought it in to Break Masters and they checked the car with the engine running and the wrench light on and code P1811 showed up.

Is this serious? What should I do? Break masters suggested I bring it in to Saturn. Since the car drives fine when the wrench light is off could there be a problem with the transmission?

DTC P1811 Maximum Adapt and Long Shift

Change your fluid and filter. Replace your ECTS. Remove the PCM B fuse in the under hood junction box for 30 seconds. Go drive around town and see how it goes.
