My 1990 Buick Lesabre, (which up until last week has never let me down) has no heat. The heater comes on when it feels like it. My daughter slammed the door and it came on, few minutes later it shut off, went over a bump and it came back on. Of course this happen on the coldest week in NY. I guess there is a short, how do I find it?
Thanks

No short-- sounds like a worn out blower motor- this is how I test them-- if they are not on and supposed to be on- I tap on the outer case of the motor with a blunt object- if motor comes on- then I replace blower motor- the brushes are worn, armature needs to be centered to start motor- bumping it- helps center and seat brushes- then it will run until it stops in a bad spot again- will get worse over time- best to just replace it. Fairly easy and cheap on your car- just have to wiggle it out around the motor hanger- or bend hanger back a tad.

Sometimes just hitting a bump, or slamming the hood will jarr it enough to start it I had a neighbor lady beat her dash for over a year, until she finally gave in and let me replace it.....
