My friend has a 1993 Corolla with 210,000 miles. The alternator went out so we replaced it with an autozone alternator and it lasted a few years. Now within the last month or 2 he's gone through like 2 or 3 more alternators. I think on the last 2 installs it arced a couple times. So right after he replaced his last one he went down to autozone and had it tested. They said it was charging correctly. Well 3 days later it went out again. Any ideas what could be causing the alternators to stop working so quickly after being put in? Could it be the wires going to/from the alternator? Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks

When you say, " it went out", do you mean it failed testing ? the battery went dead ?

And is it the 1.6 or 1.8 L ?
