1997 ford expidition 4wd torque in 2wd

put in 4 wd the other day and then acted like wouldnt come out. Put up on blocks and found out that front hubs are ingauging and disengauging when i turn knob, but engine and tranny act like im in 4wd low when im not. torque is strong and hard shifting . Any one here think they can help out,Thanks.

Could really use some help here .When I put in 2 wheel it disengages the front wheels but not the transfer case, A4WD light goes off. When I put in A4WD, 4 HIGH OR 4 LOW, The A4WD light stays on and front wheels are locked in. I would just like to get back in normal 2WD. If im engauging in and out of 4WD on wheels, Why is my tranny and moter still acting like im in 4WD. Could my 4WD Transfer case moter be the problem, even though its puting front wheels in and out when I switch dial inside. CAN ANYONE HELP.:banghead:
