It looks awesome so far. Love the seat, and the panel lines look perfect - they should come out great after painting I'm sure.

Looks look a good start. So how did you achieve that textured look on the seat..?

I used some embossing powder for the texture just sprinkled it over wet paint that i brushed on, thenI sprayed it flat black then semi clear then used some white pastel chalk to give it a worn look. photo doesn't really show it well though

Every time one of these pops up on various forums I always get an urge to pull my kit out and start it... but that would mean adding it to the couple of builds I've already got going, which just won't work...

Oh, and great work!

I am following your build closely as I have this kit myself and I must admit I have always been a little intimidated by the colour scheme and the masking involved, but really James you make it look too easy...
Nice paintwork so far and the colours look spot on.Can't wait to see it come 'alive' when the decals go on

James,
Do you spray this Duplicolor from Spray or from Airbrush?
If you don't mind, can you tell us the exact cod or number of the paint? I used myself Duplicolour paint for my Mclaren but your looks much brighter. See here :

Hi,

looks cool so far.

BTW: Did I miss it? What model is it? Scale?

Tibi Keke
01-18-2009, 03:22 AM
@ sportracer02: It is a Tamiya Mclaren MP 4/13. Scale 1 / 20.

James, did you seal the paint with clear befor decaling? Or the paint is glossy enough and is no need?
Your working speed is unbelievable! Can wait to see your work on the front of the car (nose and front wings)!

I found your fit between the rear cowling and the font monocoque is really good, did you add a little height to the rear cowling? or any modification made to make the fit look so good?

no I decaled just over the paint. then i just cleared it today, the rest of the decals, "sponsors" would not have clear coat over them i dont think on the real car..
