Warsteiner CLK DTM

Hi all.
I was not originally going to post this, but as some questions needed asking, I thought that I may as well.

This DTM Mercedes should become the fourth painted model I've finished, and I'm almost ashamed to post it, considering what others awesome jobs other people on this forum have completed :redface: .

I had problems with the rollcage fitment. After I took these photos, I got annoyed, so just slapped thick paint onto the gap.

With the primer, as you can see I've started to sand it. I'm not really sure whether I should spray another coat on top so the body is all white because I'm using black, and I have ruined a Ferrari FXX's paint job by over-spraying. Criticisms are welcomed.

The photos are not showing at the moment. If you have questions myself and many others will be happy to try to help you. It can be difficult when you are first starting to learn to build models so, don't feel bad. The only reason most stuff on this board looks nice is people here don't often show there mistakes. Also, alot of the people posting have been building kits for a while.

In my opinion, I would add some more primer, then wet sand with fine sanding paper before spraying the black colour coat - remember the higher the grade number the finer the sandpaper. For the colour coat, in my experience the key is to start with a number of light "mist" coats, where you will slowly build up the colour. Allow drying between each coat, and sand when the surface starts to become rough. Once you have the colour built up to your liking, give it one last wet sand with very fine sand paper (no less than 2000 grit) and one last heavy coat of paint. Allow to dry thoroughly before sanding/clear coating if you desire. Note that under the best circumstances this will take a number of days, unless you use a dehumidifier to speed drying times.

Lol, I suppose you are referring to the 1/48 scale soldiers. They were jealous that the car was bigger then their tank, so they shot the interior with paintball guns :) .

Yes, the rollcage is pretty bad, but I got so annoyed that I just whacked it in, so not it's stuck inside... I think I'll need to cut...:uhoh:

Thnks postie I'll try that method when I find some time and buy the black spray can.

TW as for the pictures, I tried to fix them today, but fotki is under maintenance so :disappoin .
