I plan on getting a new engine install in my 1997 Chevy malibu in february, but every other day I go start the car up so the battery and car tires won't die or go flat. Today I got into the car on the passendger side and tried starting the car about serveral times, problem is, by the engine be shock I have to have my foot on the gas in order to get the car running. But by me sitting on the passendger side this was a little difficult. I notice the thleft sytem light came on and the car would not crank.................Is this the thleft system or do the light just come on when you try cranking the call....

I went to try to cut the car back on 10-15 mins. later and the radio wouldn't even cut on, but the lights and window wiper were working.......

I am curious how serious is this........

Sounds like you have a passlock issue and a blown fuse for the radio

You really need to starting reading threads to understand your issues. There is a big thread on passlock that has lots of info.

I did read the threads on passlocks and headgaskets; issuses that are concerning and frustrateing me. But I am not no master mechanic, I am going to school to be a nurse for god-sake. But as far as the passlock problem I haven't finded any information that can actually help me fix the problem. I saw someone sad something about cutting wires and someone else reply with, "I am not into cutting wires to fixs things", which I agree, I dont believe cutting wires to fix problems.......But wat do you think I should do....

PS: The mechanic whom going to put in the engine should have the skills to fix all these above, dont you think..

same problem last year. theft system. if you have a remote, a chevy dealership can reprogram it. if not it will cost. there is a chip inside your transmition. it has to be turned off or your trans has to be replaced. but first. turn your key to "on", dont crank the car. you will make the theft light flash for 10 min. turn it off and take the key out. 2 min later crank the car. i know this because i had to do it untill i could get my chip turned off.

Yes, I think the mechanic can help you. Bless his heart.
