so here the deal

i have a 2000 sl2 w / bad man trans ( blew a diff pin) , thinking about replacing it with a man trans from a 2002 sl1 though externaly they are the same the inside is not

has anyone tried this and if so what are the results

i know a few saturn dealer tech and they said they have never done it but suspect may have ses light and possible speedo incorrect issues but were nt confident on anything

i did find out both final drive gear ratios are the same , but some body metioned to me the cruise probly will not work ,

so please and comments or experience would go along way

thanks

Yes it will work. PCM does not care about manual tranny gear ratios for normal operation. Your speedo will be correct. It is based of the differential which is the same for both tranies. Your RPM's however will be much much lower at 70mph. Normal they are at or around 3K...expect yours to be around 2400.

Cruise should still work. Again its based off the Speed sensor on thr tranny IIRC. Good luck

yes it will work. but your engine was not optimized to drive on the mp2. gear ratios are different, so the pep you have from the mp3 will be lost using the mp2. you will not have any problems mechanically or electrically swapping it in.

i know there are several guys up where your at that can help do the job or at least find/sell you a mp3 tranny. i cant say they definitely could, but usually are willing to help fix a car or at least find the parts the person needs.
