Hello. I have a 96 S-10. The blower works very intermidently, and only on high. When a turn the heat/ac switch on, my ABS and brake light comes on. These lights also come on when I turn the temperature knob. I have replaced the blower motor and resistor. Please help, it's getting cold!

Check all wiring real close for a bad ground or power feed.

I was checking wires last night with a test light. I unplugged the 4 wires that go into the resistor. The blower is able to blow on high with this harness unplugged. Except when I touch one certan pin in the harness with the test light. Then the blower dies again. Could it be the relay? If so, which one is it? There are 4 right next it on the firewall.

Relay is for high blower.

What blower speeds are acting up?
If it is turning on ABS light you have a wiring proble.
Ground or power feed?
Have you checked the blower fan switch?

When it does decide to work, it only works on high. Yes sir, I did replace the blower fan switch a couple of days ago. Since the dummy lights come on only when I mess with the heat/ac and temp switches, should I start there, or under the hood?

If it is turning on dummie lights you have a bad gound or connection or power feed problem.

Get a good wiring diagram and check all power feeds and connections and it might not hurt to try a know good relay.

A factory repair manual or a all data online sub will have the wiring diagrams and repair flow charts for you problem.

OK. Swapped relays, nothing. While probing wires, I discovered this. On the 4 wires leading to the resistor, when I poke one of them with the test light, it kills the blower. What does that mean, a short further down?
