300 Touring Extended Warranty?

I'm about out of time to purchase my extended warranty for my new 300 Touring AWD 2008. Got about three weeks left.

Will probably keep the car for 7 years or so, so I don't see the need for the 10 year/100,000 miles plan.

That being said, have people been having troubles outside of the original warranty where another $2K dropped at this point would be worth it? If you could go back and get/not get your extended warranty, what would you do differently? Have a lot of components been breaking on your car after the 3 year manufacturer's warranty?

Just curious, as I don't have two grand to drop right now with tax season approaching...thanks!

First, this is the forum for 300M's, the model built before your. But if you do get an extended warranty, only get the manufacturer's warranty directly from Chrysler. No outside policies I have ever heard about amount to a hill of beans. As far as the 3.5 engine, it is a reliable workhorse. Just change out the timing belt every 100k and it is good to go. That and properly maintain it using new oil and filter every 3k or Mobil one and a Mobil1 or K&N filter, not a cheap filter like Fram, every 5-7k. Change fluids and hoses etc as needed - see your manual.

So how about all of Chrysler's problems? What will a Chrysler warranty mean if they go under?

Decisions...

Probably mean the same thing that happens when when an outside extended warranty company goes under.

If they go out of business, you are SOL.

Chances are, Chrysler will not go under, but will go bankrupt and reorganize to continue business. If this happens, you are still SOL.

IMO do not bother about the extended warranty. $2k can buy a lot of repairs.
Car companies make a lot of profit on extended warranties. If your car provides average reliability, you will not need $2k in repairs in the extended warranty period anyways.
